Welcome to Saint John's--We are so glad you found our home on the Internet!  Saint John's Evangelical Lutheran Church is located in Thurmont, Maryland (we are the church next to the firehall - click on the directions link above if you'd like to know how to find the church). 

Saint John's has been located in this area for 250 years!  While we have a rich history, we believe that we have an even greater future as we seek to understand how God wants to use our congregation in the Thurmont area and the world.  Saint John's is part of the Deleware-Maryland Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA).  You can find an overview of the Lutheran beliefs here but what is most important to us is an understanding that our lives are centered on following Jesus Christ and that in this life's long journey, living according to God's Word, we come to understand more fully God's purpose for us.  We believe that God loves us and God wants us to show that same love to those in our world.

Saint John's might be a place where you would like to be supported in your Christian faith journey.  In a world, often full of bad news--even hopelessness and despair--we discover that Jesus Christ has Good News for everyone!  Perhaps Saint John's is a place where you might like to visit; or, you may just want to spend some time and explore this website and find out a bit more about who we are (i.e., ministry opportunities, discipleship, worship, etc.).  Please take your time and feel free to call us anytime.  Again, this website is a fairly good place to begin your journey in finding a church home.  It would be our privilege to serve you in anyway possible and become your community of faith...A community committed to growing in the Way of Jesus Christ.
